Over the past year, I've become increasingly interested in oral and written traditions, like the ones in mythology, Grimms Fairy Tales, and Aesops Fables. My current work takes a closer look at the symbolism contained in these stories, how the stories have developed and changed over time, and how they relate now to the world around them. My work has become an amalgamation of sorts--I match the symbols that I find with the personalities and character traits of the people I surround myself with on a daily basis, and surprising connections result.
This source of inspiration lends to an endlessly shifting body of work. I'm excited by what I've discovered so far, but I feel like I’ve just started scratching at the surface of archetypes, metaphor, and perceptions. While there's definitely a consistent development of style and technique, each piece is as different as the words that inspired it.
