Tomorrow Night!! Artifakt 4th Annual Graffiti Jam Featuring Mash Hall

Posted by: Ripley in Art, Artifakt Events, Artifakt News, Artists, Events, General, Music

Tomorrow night at Lo_Fi is our 4th annual graffiti jam. I’m so excited for this event it is going to be EPIC! To make things even better, Lo_Fi has been remodeled and looks super nice. Also, we will be unveiling a brand new mural painted on the side of Lo_Fi. There will be lights in the parking lot so everyone can check the mural out. Finally, with Mash Hall headling our musical acts this event is going to be so much fun!

Here is a sneak peak of the mural below. I have been going by everyday and documenting the progression. I will be making a time lapse video of the mural project and will be posting it soon. I will also be posting finished photos.

Enjoy!

Trashed Does It Again!

Posted by: Flat Black in Music

A big thanks to everyone who came out to the Vol. 5 of Trashed!!

Vol.6 is on Saturday, July 3rd, at the Baltic Room and will be featuring…

Gigamesh of DiscoTech & Señor Stereo

Gigamesh // DiscoTech // Señor Stereo

Gigamesh is best described as a “new millenium musician”: someone who is a jack of all trades, and master of none. He is a multi-instrumentalist, remix artist, DJ, engineer and producer (recently adding a Billboard single to his résumé), but he readily admits that none of those activities is enough to hold his interest for very long.

First gaining attention with his work as a producer in DiscoTech, Gigamesh is a name known worldwide by open-format club DJs. However, he considers that his ‘day job’. His real interests lie in forward-thinking music that can’t be easily categorized or digested by casual music listeners. His most well known song outside of the pop realm is a remix of Radiohead’s Everything in its Right Place, which has found its way to the top 10 on Hype Machine multiple times. He also made an official remix of Classixx huge nu-disco hit ‘I’ll Get You’ that saw rotation on popular BBC mixshows and in clubs around the world. Recently Gigamesh has stumbled into being a pop producer as his remix of Mike Posner’s Cooler Than Me was chosen over the original to get an official release on J Records (labeled ‘Single Mix’, it was at #19 and rising on Billboard Dance 100 as of this writing).

Along with his own material, Gigamesh is also a member of the group Señor Stereo. June 29th is the release date of their first EP on Slow Roast Records.

Here’s that remix of Mike Posner’s “Cooler Than Me” as well as other Gigamesh & DiscoTech tunes. Enoy! =]

Mike Posner – Cooler Than Me (Gigamesh Remix)

Jackson 5 – Dancing Machine (Gigamesh Remix)

Lykke Li – Little Bit (Gigamesh Remix)

Michael Jackson – Thriller (DiscoTech Remix)

DiscoTech – She’s Devastating

T.I. – Whatever You Like (DiscoTech Remix)

Coming Up At The SAM

Posted by: Ripley in Art, Artifakt News, Events, General, Music

There is an interesting installation coming to The Seattle Art Museum in May. What is this installation you ask? Well, the installation is about Kurt Cobain. We all grew up listening to Nirvana and that band was what “grunge” was all about. I think that this exhibit will be very powerful and nostalgic as we remember what we were all doing while this artist was still alive.

Check out more info here at the SAM website

This excerpt is from the SAM website:

Grunge music is arguably Seattle’s greatest cultural export of the past 20 years, and Kurt Cobain was that movement’s central figure. The historical impact of Kurt Cobain cannot be denied or overestimated. During and after his brief career—which came to a premature end in 1994—his life and work have reverberated across the globe. Kurt celebrates that influence, in particular the effect he had on the creative lives and thought processes of artists.
